How can we help?

TripStatus is built and run by one person. Email is the fastest way to reach me — there's no ticket queue to get lost in, and I read every message.

Common questions

How do I add a flight to a trip?

On the Trips tab, tap + to start a trip, or open an existing trip and edit its itinerary. Add a transport leg, choose the airports and the date, and pick your flight from the list. If your flight isn't listed — small carriers and some charters aren't in the schedule data — you can type the airline and flight number in by hand, and tracking still works.

Why isn't my flight showing live status?

Live tracking turns on automatically about 45 minutes before departure. Before that, the leg shows its scheduled times only.

If it's inside that window and still not updating, the most common cause is that the flight number isn't in our data provider's schedule — typically a codeshare "marketing" number rather than the operating carrier's. Try the operating flight number (the one the airline shows on the boarding pass). You can always tap I've arrived on a leg to mark it done manually.

Who can see my trip?

Only the people you choose. A trip is visible to its travelers, to anyone you share it with individually, and to members of a group you share it with. Nothing is public, there are no public links, and trips are never searchable or discoverable.

You can only add someone as a traveler or share a trip with them if you are already accepted friends — nobody can attach you to a trip you didn't agree to.

How do I invite someone to follow a trip?

Add them as a friend first on the Friends tab (by their email address), and they accept. Then open the trip and share it with them, or with a group you've put them in. Groups are handy when the same set of people — family, say — follows every trip you take.

I'm not getting notifications

Check iOS Settings → Notifications → TripStatus and make sure Allow Notifications is on. Push alerts only fire for flights actively being tracked, so you won't get anything for flights more than ~45 minutes out, or for train, bus, car and ferry legs, which have no live data source.

If notifications were working and stopped, signing out and back in re-registers your device.

I forgot my password

Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen and we'll email you a reset link. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder — and make sure you're using the address you signed up with.

How do I delete my account and my data?

In the app: Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, your trips, your itineraries, your friendships and your group memberships. It happens immediately and cannot be undone.

A trip you created but that other people also travel on survives your deletion for them, with your personal details removed. If you'd rather have that deleted too, email me before you delete the account.

Is my flight data accurate?

Flight status comes from a third-party aviation data provider and can be wrong, delayed, or missing. TripStatus is for keeping people in the loop, not for making time-critical decisions. Always confirm gates and times with the airline or the airport directly.

Which countries and airlines are supported?

Airport search and flight schedules are worldwide, and address search covers anywhere OpenStreetMap does. Coverage quality varies by carrier: major scheduled airlines are well covered, while regional operators, charters and some low-cost carriers may have patchy schedule or live-status data.
